Driver steals company’s truck, flees

A driver and staff of a private logistics company in Lagos State identified as Temidayo, is on the run for his alleged involvement in a case of conspiracy and theft of the company’s truck.

This is just as the truck was recovered from a suspected accomplice, Segun Ajayi, in the Owode-Egba area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

PUNCH Online learnt from a police source on Thursday that Temidayo had allegedly loaded his truck with goods aimed for delivery in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

The source disclosed that the suspect had upon delivery of the goods conspired with Ajayi to swap his truck’s registration number.
The fleeing suspect was said to have driven the vehicle to another private company in Ogun State to load goods without the authorisation of his company.

The source narrated, “After delivering these goods in Lekki, Lagos State, Temidayo conspired with another company driver, Segun Ajayi, to swap his truck’s registration number with another one (GGE 721 YH).

“Temidayo then drove the truck to Wasil Company in Kajola Township, Owode Egba, Ogun State, and loaded it with 600 bags of soya flour without the authority of NG-Ride Logistics’ management.
Confirming the incident in a telephone conversation on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, noted that upon tracking the vehicle to Ogun State, a suspected accomplice of Temidayo was found with the stolen truck.

She added that Ajayi had been taken into custody and the truck recovered as exhibit while the police had begun a manhunt for the fleeing suspect.

“The truck was tracked from Lagos to Wasil Company, where Segun Ajayi admitted to using the registration number on his vehicle for the stolen truck. Segun Ajayi was also found with the key to the stolen vehicle, and he has been arrested and is currently being interrogated.

“Meanwhile, the stolen truck has been impounded by detectives, while Temidayo, the original driver, has fled. Efforts are ongoing to locate the fleeing suspect,” Odutola concluded.
